At Canterbury High School:
After Christine Hansen, Head of Music, recently lost her headship and was suspended for ten days without pay, ROSS DONALDSON was called back to work with the administration at our troubled school.

Ross Donaldson had retired in January 2001.
Chris Hansen is back at school WITH her headship.


 

Congratulations to David Nugent who has been accepted into Yale's Graduate Playwriting Programme! Only four people are accepted into this programme each year.

Dave's play, The Dark Wood, will be produced in Edmonton this June at Theatre Network.

David's play is also being considered for production at Yale in repertory this coming year.

  The Canadian Improv Games held its 25th Anniversary celebrations April 12 and April 13.

April 13 was a special night of the Games - with speeches by Howard Jerome, Willie Wyllie and David Shepherd, 79-year old improv guru, and with help from Games' grads, it was preceded by a gala emceed by Glen Cross at the NAC Fourth Stage.

At the Gala we saw a performance by The Company of Fools, Howard Jerome's rap, and improv by Tyler Westerlund, John Fucile, Terry McGurrin and Adam Reid.

The Friday FORUM consisted of this panel:
Chris Moore, Alistair Cook, Michael Golding, Glen Cross, John Fucile, Howard Jerome, Marti Maraden, Terry McGurrin, Stephanie Moore, Ed Neuvremont, Maureen Welch, Willie Wyllie, Hugh Neilson and David Shepherd.
It was hosted by the very articulate Ken Rockburn, from CBC and CPAC.

JUDY KIRSH was awarded a VISION AWARD by the Games. She was Willie Wyllie's improv coach, and thus an important person in the development of the Games.

Willie Wyllie and Howard Jerome also received the VISION award for their creation of the Games.

There was a wonderful dinner for guests of honour and recipients of the Founder's Award.

 
  BOFA 2002 has an improv show at CHS May 1, at 7:30. Guests are the Lisgar improv team, the Earl of March improv team and the Canterbury team, The Chess Club. Come on out for more inspired craziness!

Jessica Holmes, Comedy writing for TV, Vik Sahay-Actor in a TV show (Our Hero) and Raoul Bhaneja, as part of Sin City (the improvised show).
 
  Jessica Holmes and Kurt Smeaton are busy writing for the series The Holmes Show which has received its funding.
 
  See Raoul on Monday nights in Toronto in Sin City, an on-going improvised "soap opera". It's funny!
 
  Willie Wyllie is writing a book on the history of the Canadian Improv Games and Jane Moore is his editor.
The book should be out this fall.
 
  New commercials by Tyler Westerlund and Stephanie Moore (Canadian Tire) are on the screen.
 
  Raoul Bhaneja will be going to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London in August, as part of the International Fellowship, along with fellow Canadian actor Pippa Domville.

Raoul plans to produce HAMLET, REMEMBER ME, a solo version of Hamlet, with the help of BOFA alumnus, Robert Ross Parker, as associate director.

 
  Naomi Rachlis performed in City of Angels, with its "phenomenal music" and sang one of the best songs.
