Return to Up Close: BOFA Profile
St. Albert, Alberta

SCHOOLING
I am in grade 12 /OAC, (but in Alberta's grades), at Victoria School for the Performing and Visual Arts.

WORKING AT
I used to work at Silver City. Now I work at Winners.

PERFORMANCE
Just appeared in Fiddler on the Roof as Golde. Now I am in a show called A Fable, which is an Absurdist piece with much creative movement.

CREATING
I am working on developing a weekly comedy show (similar to This Hour has 22 Minutes) for our school TV show called The Pulse.

WHERE
Did clowning on New Year’s Eve for the Edmonton First Night Festival

BEING IN CHARGE
I am going to be stage managing a show in April for the One- Act Festival at my school, but the name of the show is yet to be announced.

OFF THE JOB
I take a physical theatre class once a week directed by Lynda Adams, a physical theatre teacher from B.C.

FAVOURITE BOFA MOMENT
When Dave Nugent plopped down onto the floor and lay there like a corpse. The rest of the team continued to play a ridiculous Theme game around the human barrier!

FUTURE
I want to attend the National Theatre School. So, whether I get in this year, or in 25 years of auditioning, I will go there. Oh yes, I will.

FAVOURITE THING TO DO
Right now, I am really enjoying dancing. I am taking tap lessons, and enjoying the challenge thoroughly.

ENJOYED THE MOST
Aerobics. I get up at 5a.m. every morning to work out before school. I've narrowed my favorite aerobic videos down to Kathy Smith and Richard Simmons. I know, Richy is kind of fruity, but damn are his workouts funny and fun!

SPECIAL RECOGNITION
I sang on Global News for the promotion of Fiddler on the Roof. I was interviewed by Videon (the Edmonton cable company) for being active in the arts scene. I was on the A Channel's Big Breakfast show (not really a big deal). I won an Academic Excellence Award for semester one in grade 12 at Vic. I got the grade 11 Drama award at Canterbury. Aside from these, the only title I have earned is DIVA!

MOST PROUD OF
During Fiddler on the Roof, I got second degree burns while lighting candles in one performance. I knew beforehand that I was going to hurt myself (the handle of the match broke off the first time I struck it), but I risked the pain for the sake of the show. I was proud that I didn't flinch, wince or twitch while my nail was burning off before my eyes, and the skin around it was being charred. Instead I just continued singing as if nothing out of the ordinary was happening! Even though I have a scar, I can now say that I have a permanent souvenir of my first musical!

MOST DIFFICULT THING TO DO
Laundry

A FAVOURITE STORY SINCE YOU LEFT
I attended a workshop by Arthur Hillar (director of Love Story) and adopted a quotation that truly inspired me: “Acting cannot be something that you want to do most in your life. It's got to be the only thing you want to do.”
